Computer Forensics Section

Computer forensics is the application of investigation and analysis techniques to gather and preserve evidence from a particular memory storage device in a way that is suitable for presentation in a court of law.

The digital data present in the computer/Laptop/memory storage devices are perfectly duplicated onto an image form. Officers work from the image, preserving the original evidence. This counters many defense challenges and negates the possibility of data destruction or manipulation. Once verified images have been obtained, it is necessary for analysts to recover digital information.

Computer Forensics division of State Forensic Science Laboratory is notified as ‘Examiner of Electronic Evidence’ [EEE] under Section 79A of the Information Technology Act 2000 by MEITY- Govt. of India.
